First Aid at Work. (FAW) :: EFAW Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day of 6 contact hours).
Introduction to first aid, currently certificated for 3 years, covering:
- Vital signs.
- Incident management.
- Unconscious casualty.
- Serious bleeding.
- Shock - the silent killer.
- CPR.
- Choking.
This course also covers the requirements for:
First aid kits and reporting procedures, and medications, and the work place.
With a chance for client specific requests / information if time available.
In England this course also qualifies students with a Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work, and the unit credit for this maybe added to other unit credits. In Scotland this is a Level 5 Award with unit credit, and the ILA account maybe used.
This course can also be delivered specifically for holistic therapists and practitioners, or those training to qualify or deliver such therapies.
Course trainer has a background in these types of therapies, and some of the specific questions and techniques relating to these therapies will be addressed.
New HSE Regulations from October 2009. What does it mean to you?
From October 2009 onwards:
- We will be teaching the New national standard syllabus.
- For appointed person training, we will provide a 4 hour awareness course (half day).
- If your work involves working with children, infants, the elderly or outdoors you may need to undertake additional first aid training to meet your risk / hazard assessment.
This training will not be compulsory for appointed persons (it never has been compulsory for appointed persons to carry out first aid training, purely an HSE recommendation).
This course is eligible for funding in Scotland by ILA (individual learning accounts) and ReAct, vocational training scheme in Wales.
