Outdoor First Aid (OFA). :: Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor First Aid (Unit 1 + Unit 2), (16+ hours).
The Outdoor First Aid Emergency Incident Management Unit 2 is suitable for those needing a wider range of training, and who wish to complete a series of practical exercises in both individual and team settings.
The course covers a wide and varied range of topics including:
- Immediate actions.
- Protection of both yourself, and the casualty, against environmental conditions.
- Longer term observations.
The course also gives an introduction into specialist sections on head injury, helmet removal if required, and spinal management, and covers the treatment of:
- Minor wounds and conditions.
- Allergic reaction(s).
- Heart problems.
- Anaphylaxis.
- Asthma.
- Fractures / dislocations (including spinal).
- Head injuries (including helmet removal).
- Exposure to both cold and heat and their appropriate treatments.
- Water problems (dehydration etc).
- Burns.
The course also covers the aftermath of an incident and the HSE Requirements for:
- Accident reports and legislation
This Course meets the requirements of many Awarding Bodies and NGB's including:
ML Awards, MIA, MIC, EML, WGL, BELA, and governing bodies such as BCU, RYA, NCA, SCU, BASI, ESC, BOF.
This course is also suitable for Scout and Guide Leaders, Boys Brigade, Duke of Edinburgh Award leaders, trainers, supervisors, assessors, school party leaders, charitable treks and challenges and gap year expeditions.
The course also exceeds the current recommendations for existing "Appointed Persons" status, and the 2009 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
Outdoor First Aid Emergency Incident Management Unit 2, can be found listed on the National Qualification Framework (NQF), in England.
This course is eligible for funding in Scotland by ILA (individual learning accounts) and ReAct, vocational training scheme in Wales.
