Education and Care (E & C). :: Paediatric Emergency First Aid (Unit 1), (6+ Hours).
The Paediatric 6 hour course is a program in emergency care procedures for the infant, and child.
Reactive first aid skills are delivered in a shortened version of the full 12 hour paediatric program. The course syllabus covers all Primary Care skills:
- First Aid guidelines.
- Vital signs.
- Incident Management.
- Treating Collapse (both infant and child).
- CPR (both infant and child).
- Choking Management (both infant and child).
- Control of Bleeding and shock.
The course also has time available for client specific requirements.
If the course is delivered as a public or evening class for personal interest, then adult collapse, and CPR may be covered on request.
If the course is run for a work place, or employment setting (paid or voluntary), then this course follows OFSTED and EYFS regulations / guidance and concentrates on infant and children's first aid issues.
Please be aware that most workplace / employment settings will require the full 12 training / contact hour course, and any adult first aid issues must be covered by separate training.
Suitable training would be either:
- 4 hour Appointed Person (this training is not compulsory and can be longer by request).
- The new Emergency First Aid at Work 1 day course (from Oct 2009).
- The full First Aider at Work course (18hrs / 3 days from Oct 2009) .
