Sports First Aid :: ITC First Aid for Sport.
Recreation.
Designed to meet the needs of the personal fitness instructor, evening class fitness instructor, aerobics teacher, recreational athlete, or sports person. The Unit 1 syllabus is suitable for nearly all people involved in sporting activities.
The Course covers:
- First Aid guidelines.
- Vital signs (how to decide what to do next).
- How to manage incidents (ABCDE).
This course also covers in detail how to deal with the following incidents:
- Collapse.
- Bleeding.
- Shock.
- Both heat and cold injuries.
This course also introduces the information needed to allow you (the sports person), to make
the correct decisions when dealing with:
- Head guards and gum shield injuries.
- Return to play decisions.
- Soft tissue injuries, when to use / not use ice.
- Introduction to head, neck and spinal management.
The course also meets the current recommendations by the HSE for Appointed Persons in the Workplace.
When linked to the unit 2 course, it completes the ITC level 2 award in first aid for sport.
Courses are eligible for funding in Scotland by ILA (individual learning accounts) and ReAct, vocational training scheme in Wales.
