Education and Care (E & C). :: Paediatric First Aid Award (Unit 1 + Unit 2), (12+ Hours).
The 12 hour course follows a similar syllabus to the 6 hour Paediatric course with the addition of several specific modules.
These include:
- Common injuries.
- Head injuries.
- Common medical emergencies.
- Bites / stings / foreign bodies.
- First Aid kits and reporting incidents.
This course is suitable for anyone working in an early years setting.
This course has NO adult first aid content, it concentrates on infants and children.
Any first aid requirement for adults must be covered by any of these courses:
- Appointed Person first aid awareness, 4 hour course, (Appointed Person training not compulsory).
- The new Emergency First Aid at Work course (from Oct 2009).
- The full First Aid at Work qualification (18 hours / 3 days from Oct 2009) .
These courses are eligible for funding in Scotland by ILA (individual learning accounts) and ReAct, vocational training scheme in Wales.
