HSE decide First Aid Rules are still fit for purpose

The first full review of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 has decided that the rules are still fit for purpose. However there are recommendations in the review including the following:

Regs and ACOP should not be changed
Guidance should be revised
First aid courses should be restructured, the 4 day course being replaced with a 1 day or 3 day course, employers should assess which level of training was required.
HSE should approve structure and content of courses, not the providers as is currently the case.
HSE should encourage the industry to set up its own body
Regs still require ALL employers to provide equipment, facilities and personnel to allow injured and ill workers to be taken care of.
