Over the weekend of 22/23 October, first aid awarding body ITC had a very succesful stand at the Scottish Canoe Association Paddle 2011 event at the Bell's Sport Centre, Perth. Interest was good especialy from those who knew the BCU/SCA insructor first aid standards change in January next year, and the requirement will be for a 16 hour outdoor first aid course.
ITC have 2 options to meet this demand: the most common being the ITC SQA accredited level 5 award in outdoor first aid, a 2 unit award with unit credits, of interest for those who are maybe undertaking other awards with unit credit. The alternative is the ITC 16 hour Outdoor First Aid cert of competence (Emergency Incident Management)
There was interest from clubs and groups for both the above and also for many who were interested in the 2 day provider induction, which brings people onboard with ITC and helps, through a mentoring process, to get individuals into a position of being able to set up and run courses themselves, commercially or within their club or group
Next provider induction in Scotland will be 10/11 December, near Inverness
