Education and Care (E & C).

A specific range of courses aimed at both the education and care sectors. Delivered by Rubicon First Aid Ltd in a practical "hands on" approach, using the unique ITC delivery method. Whether you are working with the elderly, students, home carers, children and infants we can provide you with the training to meet your first aid needs and fulfil your duty of care requirements.

Emergency First Aid for Teachers and Teaching Staff is an 8 hour course (7 training hours 1 hour breaks) which outlines the duty of care, doing what is reasonable under the circumstances, observing changes in vital signs (Colour, Temp, breathing, response) to decide is it a small or big problem, managing an incident using ABCD, treatments for collapse (recovery position and variations for casualty on front, seated, large/small. injured) treatments for choking and collapse due to choking, treatment for major bleed and shock, best practice for minor commom complaints (burns, blisters, bites, minor bleed) Treatment for non breathing caualty (CPR) with information on variation for children (classed as 1 year until puberty), discussion and information/advice on medical conditions. Please be aware that it may be a requirement that some staff may ned to complete either full First Aid at Work (3 days) or Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day) to cover all Health and Sfety aspects for first aoid to staff/employees. The 1 day course aimed at teaching & school staff does not cover all these aspects and cannot substitute for this, however it is aimed at the school environment for general use.

Paedaitric First Aid, 12 Contact Hours, meeting Ofsted and EYFS requirements in England, exceeds Scottish Government requirements. Awarded with a certificate of comptence as course is assessed, awarded by SQA and Ofqual accredited awarding body ITC

First aid for Carers will be as the first aid for schools but will be taught in the context fo the care environment and will cover first aid for wheel chair users, very obese casualties, those with brain damage or dysfunction, brittal bones etc. Again this course cannot substitute for the FAW or EFAW which maybe required for H and S purposes to cover first aid on employees. This course is more aimed at the service users.

All courses may be run over days or evenings, paediatric first aid may run over 2 seperate days.

Paediatric Emergency First Aid (Unit 1), (6+ Hours).

Target Audience: Paediatric Sector.

Awarding Body: ITC.

The Paediatric Emergency First Aid 6 hour course is a practical program in emergency care procedures, covering both infants, and young children. This course is aimed at parents and grand parents and anyone with a general interest in child first aid.

N.B. it is NOT suitable for current Ofsted requirements.

If you require a course that meets current Ofsted requirements or work (paid or voluntary) with children and infants you should be doing the full 12 hour course.

N.B. First Aid Training for this sector has a regulatory requirement.

Paediatric First Aid Award (Unit 1 + Unit 2), (12+ Hours).

Target Audience: Paediatric Sector

Awarding Body: ITC.

The Paediatric 12 Hour Course is the natural progression for people who have completed the Paediatric Short Course (6hours).

With additional modules on injuries and illnesses, this course meets the latest OFSTED standards and EYFS regulations.

To meet the current EYFS statutory framework requirements: There must be at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate on the premises or accompanying outings at all times when children are present.

For Scotland the full 12 hour course meets and exceeds the stated requirements.
