Outdoor First Aid (OFA).

Outdoor First Aid courses, can be described as emergency care for remote locations.

It is not about advanced skills, but being confident and competent in using basic skills for extended periods of time, and anticipating changes in the casualties status by good observation and recording of vital signs.

The outline course structures and teaching methods are awarded by SQA and QCF accredited Awarding Body ITC

ITC also have an HSE awarding body function in the UK, through Immdeiate Temporary Care Licence Number 1670/96

Wilderness / Outdoors can be defined as being more then one hour from definitive medical care.

Emphasis is placed on the application of these practical skills, often out of doors, in realistic scenarios (which teach you to adapt and improvise your skills), whilst sometimes using trained casualties with simulated illnesses and injuries.

We will look at first aid practice, first aid equipment, and the use of other outdoor and safety equipment that you may have with you.
